Strategic Plan

REALTORS® are more than just real estate agents. Being a REALTOR® means you are a member of the National Association of REALTORS® and you abide by a Code of Ethics that dates all the way back to 1913. The REALTOR® Code of Ethics isn’t just words on a page but is a pledge of honesty, integrity, professionalism, and community service.

The Williamsburg Area Association of REALTORS®, the Voice for Real Estate in America’s Historic Triangle™ is part of the tri-level organization of the national, state and local associations of REALTORS®.  As the local Association, we strive to be the collective force influencing and shaping the real estate industry.

 The Williamsburg Area Association of REALTORS® seeks to be the leading advocate of the right to own, use, and transfer real property; the acknowledged leader in developing standards for efficient, effective and ethical real estate business practices; and valued by highly skilled real estate professionals and viewed by them as crucial to their success.  Working on behalf of America’s property owners, Williamsburg REALTORS® provide a facility for professional development, research and exchange of information among its members and to the public and government for the purpose of preserving the free enterprise system and the right to own, use, and transfer real property.

Engage

Engage members with a culture and environment that is inclusive and inviting, offering programs, personal services, products and events that exceed member expectations.

  • Deliver excellent personal member service and support to help members overcome challenges and be successful.
  • Communicate openly and honestly with Brokers and Agents, keeping promises, offering support and honoring commitments in order to build trust.
  • Encourage wider adoption of member benefits and retention through the collection of profiles and preference analytics.
  • Offer Members varied opportunities for relationship building and networking. 

Educate

Increase and strengthen the skills, professionalism and success of REALTORS® by providing a local real estate school and learning opportunities.

  • Create opportunities for members to participate in career path development and continuing education.
  • Review and regularly update the curriculum to stay current with emerging professional development, industry needs and fair housing laws.
  • Foster educational experiences through innovation and partnerships.
  • Provide quality instruction utilizing modern technologies.
  • Identify and develop talented leaders and offer members an opportunity to assume leadership roles.

Advocate

Be actively involved in our local communities to support real estate issues, property rights, and promote a positive REALTOR® image.

  • Ensure the Association is the recognized “voice” for the real estate industry in our local communities.
  • Ensure members are informed, engaged and ready to address current and emerging real estate issues.
  • Be a comprehensive, reliable source of real estate information.
  • Promote public policies advancing the local real estate industry, private property rights and diverse housing opportunities.

Collaborate

Build strategic partnerships with businesses in related industries, associations, government agencies and community organizations.

  • Collaborate as an ally to advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion in real estate.
  • Seek collaboration with other organizations to broaden our ability to serve the diverse membership.
  • Partner with other businesses and organizations to help support the foundation of a strong housing market.
  • Demonstrate the REALTOR® community compassion by working with local charities and causes.

Innovate

Position members to be leaders in the industry and create a continuity business plan for the organization.

  • Provide MLS tools and services that exceed member expectations while taking a proactive approach to the future of the MLS, and seeking opportunities to better serve the members.
  • Inform members of industry trends, best practices, and current innovations.
  • Implement new technologies to enhance members’ success.
  • Increase non-dues revenues and maximize investment opportunities.
